Jay Schneider, L.C.S.W., is a licensed clinical social worker, a diplomate in social work, and a certified coach with over 35 years of experience providing counseling, consulting, executive coaching, and training services to corporations, businesses, organizations, individuals, couples, and families in San Diego and the greater United States.
He is the Co-director of Schneider Counseling and Corporate Solutions. Jay founded the MANAGE ANGER DAILY (M.A.D.)anger management program to equip executives, employees, individuals, couples, families, and community groups with practical tools for emotional regulation and resilience.
Before entering private practice, Mr. Schneider was the Director of Clinical Services for SAY San Diego, an outpatient mental health program. For eight years, he developed and supervised clinical programs at three offices, serving over 500 troubled adolescents and their families per year.
Through Joan Kroc and Operation Cork, he obtained extensive training in chemical dependency treatment at the highly acclaimed Hazelden Treatment Institute in Minnesota. Active in several volunteer organizations, he has served in several positions on the board of the San Diego Chapter of the Employee Assistance Professional Association (EAPA), including President, Treasurer, and Chair of both the Treatment and Clinical Standards Committees.
Mr. Schneider was honored to serve on Mayor Maureen O’Connor’s Commission on Substance Abuse. He also served on the board of COACH, the San Diego Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse.
Jay Schneider is certified in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing by National Trauma Services. He has provided training, debriefings, consultation, and counseling for several organizations in San Diego County.
Mr. Schneider completed the 9-week Compassion Cultivation Training developed by the Stanford School of Medicine and the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE). He completed an additional 8-week course in Mindful Self-Compassion. Inspired by the transformative effects of compassion cultivation, he incorporates mindfulness and compassion cultivation techniques in his work with individuals, couples, and organizations to help others achieve positive, life-affirming results.

Outside the office, Jay channels his creativity as the guitarist for the rock band One Track Mind, performing at numerous San Diego fundraisers. A dedicated cyclist, he has pedaled from Portland to Seattle, from Seattle to the Canadian border, and along the entire West Coast, continuing to ride on America’s historic trails each year. He shares his passion and insights through articles on the award-winning M.A.D. blog, inspiring others to lead happier and healthier lives.

Gina Simmons Schneider, Ph.D., is co-director of Schneider Counseling and Corporate Solutions. She holds a doctorate in psychology and is a licensed psychotherapist and certified coach. For over 25 years, Dr. Gina has provided counseling, coaching, training, and consulting services for organizations, individuals, and families in San Diego County.
Her award-winning book, Frazzlebrain: Break Free from Anxiety, Anger, and Stress Using Advanced Discoveries in Neuropsychology (Central Recovery Press, March 2022), provides evidence-based coping strategies to foster calm resilience. Dr. Gina writes helpful articles for Psychology Today and the award-winning M.A.D. blog with Jay Schneider, L.C.S.W. The Manage Anger Daily blog provides information about conflict, anger, and stress management, as well as topical stories on other mental health issues. Dr. Simmons also contributes to Women In Crime Ink, dubbed by the Wall Street Journal “A blog worth reading,” and the Forbes.com blog Crime, She Writes, sharing psychology research on crime and media issues. She’s been quoted in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and the San Diego Union-Tribune. She was interviewed for the BBC World Service program, How to Be Angry, by Laurence Knight. She also contributes to online media shows discussing a variety of mental health topics.
Dr. Simmons Schneider offers career guidance to help those in need of career direction and inspiration. This program includes testing to determine aptitudes, interests, and personality traits to identify a fulfilling career.
She serves as a faculty member for The Oasis Institute, teaching a variety of psychology classes. Dr. Gina formerly served as an adjunct faculty member in psychology at San Diego City College. She currently provides community service programs throughout San Diego, including the San Diego Writers Festival.
Her professional affiliations include the American Psychological Association, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, and the Professional Coaches Alliance.
